Have domestic violence survivors ever asked you if they can leave the state with their children?

Have you ever worked with a survivor who has fled to your state with her children for safety?

Do you know what to do when a court in one state has entered a custody order and a court in another state has entered a protection order about the same children?

The Legal Resource Center on Violence Against Women (LRC) will be offering a webinar training for attorneys on emerging interstate legal issues on April 11, 2019, from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. EST.

The training will build upon the foundation established by the LRC’s previous training programs which provided participants with an overview of the various federal and state laws that govern interstate custody cases. Among other topics, the LRC will address the following: strategies for advising clients who are contemplating leaving a jurisdiction with their children; the relationship between civil protection orders that include custody provisions and custody orders that have been issued as part of a custody or divorce case; personal jurisdiction; and recent and emerging trends. Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions during the presentation.
