Housing Stability for Survivors Project Coordinator
Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence (SPAN) is a human rights organization committed to ending violence against adults, youth, and children through support, advocacy, education, and community organizing. SPAN is a multi-ethnic, anti-racist, inclusive organization dedicated to peace and non-violence for all individuals and their families.
Responsible for coordination and implementation of the SPAN Housing Stability for Survivors Project (HSSP) to expand the availability of low barrier housing, housing assistance, and support services to survivors of intimate partner violence (IPV, including domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking) in Boulder and Broomfield counties.
Serves as the lead contact with community housing partners.
Coordinates client service and support with the HSSP Housing Advocate and housing team.
Works with landlords, property managers, and housing authority staff to identify available housing, streamline lease-up, and reduce barriers for survivors seeking or trying to remain in housing.
Manages HSSP financial assistance requests and decisions; tracks all assistance expenditures.
Works with the Housing & Economic Justice Director to recruit landlords, property managers and developers interested in expanding housing resources for survivors.
Attends community meetings, forums, housing discussions on behalf SPAN.
Works with the Community Coordinated Response Group and SPAN staff to develop and distribute housing program information and materials (Spanish/English).
Provides outreach/training to community groups/services that may interface with survivors.
Works with HSSP Housing Advocate to develop skill-building workshops and
community trainings to support participant’s efforts toward self sufficiency.
Recruits and trains project volunteers for child care, skill-building class facilitation, presentations, and others services to benefit the project and its participants.
Ensures confidentiality of all client information.
Maintains case files, records, and statistics, and prepares monthly reports and time sheets.
Assists with the maintenance and implementation of after-hours emergency response by being on-call one night per month through DART (Domestic Abuse Response Team).
Supports an organizational environment based in respect, the utilization of ethical communication, and adherence to the organization’s non-negotiable.
Supervised by Housing & Economic Justice Director; participates in regular supervision, staff meetings, and team meetings with Housing Team.
Other duties as assigned by the Housing & Economic Justice Director or Executive Director.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent life experience required. Some experience in human services and/or IPV advocacy/services required.
Experience in project management and/or grant management preferred.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Excellent interpersonal and community-building skills, as well as written and oral communication skills.
Strong working knowledge of the dynamics of IPV, trauma-informed service delivery, resources available to survivors of violence.
Experience in community organizing for social justice, particularly issues regarding gender, race, class, and sexual orientation.
Comfortable/competent working autonomously and self-directed as well as working in teams.
Computer skills, competence in MS Office programs required.
Full time $36,000/annually, with a potential increase to $37,500 after 6 months.
