Caring Unlimited is York County’s Domestic Violence Resource Center offering direct support and safety planning services to anyone impacted by domestic violence, along with prevention education, training, and professional consultation. Each year, thousands of individuals access Caring Unlimited’s direct support programs and services, all of which are confidential and offered free of charge. Caring Unlimited is a member of the Maine Coalition to End Domestic Violence.

Director of Development and Community Engagement

The Director of Development and Community Engagement is a senior leadership position responsible for directing, leading, and achieving agency-wide strategies for fundraising, community engagement, and public relations/communications. Reporting to the executive director and working closely with the board, The director will: 
- Provide leadership and direction on agency development plans including events, grant writing, donor cultivation and stewardship, annual appeals, special events, and other means to meet philanthropic goals. Provide leadership and direction on an agency-wide communications and public relations strategy that engages and educates the community on our mission including a full range of print and electronic materials and content. 
- Regularly represent the agency in public settings and develop external relationships with community stakeholders, supporters, and donors across York County. 
- Requires frequent external meetings, travel throughout York County, some evening and weekend hours. 

Experience Required

- 5-7 years of progressive experience in development and communications. - Knowledge of and sensitivity to issues of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. - Excellent oral/written communication skills. - Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year institution. - Working knowledge of philanthropic and charitable giving methods and processes. - Marketing experience, knowledge of social media, website management, electronic communications, donor database fluency. - Ability to manage multiple projects - Able to analyze complex issues and develop options and recommendations. - Ability to create and sustain respectful relationships with a diverse group of staff, volunteers, community partner, and clients. - Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and independently. - Successful completion of required advocacy training upon hire.

Salary

60,000 - 65,000
