Youth Development/Court Advocate/DV/SA/Empowerment/PREA

The Youth Development/Court Advocate/DV/SA/Empowerment/PREA provides comprehensive direct counseling and advocacy services to youth who are primary or secondary victims of domestic abuse and/or sexual assault. Also engages in outreach and education to county schools and other youth-serving programs in the community.


Within this context, major responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develops healthy, mentoring relationships with Granville County youth
  • Conducts thorough intake of clients, requesting services and providing referrals for services to other essential service providers as appropriate; accurately assessing immediate needs, including emergency shelter; providing crisis intervention and/or safety planning; assessing the immediate needs of any children involved. 
  • Counsel youth individually and in small groups regarding the dynamics of domestic and/or sexual violence, as well as working with contract employees in these areas.
  • Collaborates with FLVF staff on development, implementation, and evaluation of all services, activities, and programs.
  • Maintains accurate documentation, reports, and statistical information.
  • Participates in industry-related conferences, trainings and workshops; serving on the committees of other youth-serving community organizations.
  • Develops age-appropriate abuse and violence prevention curriculums; conducting trainings in-house and through community outreach on child sexual abuse, healthy relationships, conflict resolution, bullying, and diversity issues, as well as other requested topics including DV101, SA101, Nurturing Parents, agency training.
  • Cross-trains in all agency positions including court advocacy, adult direct services, empowerment, crisis, administration and grant management, performing additional tasks, as needed ensuring quality service delivery to all clients.
  • Night and weekend crisis line rotation, attendance at ALL FLVF related events (fundraisers, community events, outreach presentations, etc.,) in which FLVF is involved. 


Experience Required

Minimum requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in Human services, Social Work, Psychology from an accredited university. Minimum of two years hands on experience working in youth programs. • Must have access to reliable transportation and meet all work schedule requirements, including on-site visits to Granville County Schools. Clean driving record is a must. • Computer literate (good typing skills and proficient with Microsoft office) • Previous grant writing and management experience. • Excellent oral and written communication and public speaking skills. • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to develop trusting relationships with a wide range of stakeholders • Ability to provide effective advocacy services, in person, by telephone, or email to a wide range of ethnic and cultural populations. • Familiar with Granville County public schools, neighborhoods, and youth serving agencies • Understanding relevant practices of youth development while maintaining strict adherence to all mandatory reporting laws and sustaining strict client confidentiality. • Self-directed, flexible, and dependable team member with excellent work ethics • Ability to provide services unencumbered by any personal history of sexual assault or domestic violence.
