Family Services Manager

Mission

- Provide leadership and direction to program staff, ensuring YWCA's commitment to racial and gender justice is embedded in program decisions and operations.
Program management and supervision
- Develop a youth and parenting education program for survivors, in collaboration with Children's Home Society.
- Support youth participants by providing a variety of activities as well as in-the-moment individual support and behavior modeling
- Provide youth and family-focused advocacy and case management for survivors residing in emergency shelter
- Regularly meet with parents to assist in achieving family and parenting goals
- Connect families with community resources, including youth and family counseling, education, and childcare
- Use agency vehicle to support families with transportation to and from appointments
- Keep current with promising practices related to working with youth and families who have experienced trauma, and collaborate closely with the SafeChoice team to maintain consistent agency practice
- Provide Family Services support in the shelter
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and be active with young children,
- Have a valid driver's license, safe driving record and able to operate a vehicle
- Coordinate classes and groups for SafeChoice participants (shelter, CO, Housing, Motel voucher programs)
- Research and implement classes that are current, trauma-informed and survivor-centered.
- Act as liaison between participants and Children's Home Society, referring families for child and family therapy
- Work closely with the Directors of SafeChoice to schedule classes and groups.
- Work closely with the Vice President of Support Services to ensure coverage of groups and classes with fully trained volunteers and staff.
- Coordinate with the Vice President of DV Services to ensure family support services are accessible.
- Maintain compliance with local and internal regulations such as Washington Administrative Code, and confidentiality laws, mandatory reporting, and others as applicable.
- Supervise and manage Family Services Advocates in provision of classes and groups.
- Create and update training sessions as well as ensuring ongoing training requirements are being met, certificates and reports are delivered in a timely manner to the Director of Volunteer Development.
- Ensure tracking and recording statistics through infonet.
- Attend and actively participate in organization and community meetings, as appropriate
- Create impact evaluation to assess and improve services.
- Responsible for ensuring classes and groups are staffed.
- Meet annual program training requirements.
- Provide 24-hour back-up for shelter staff via cell phone on a rotating basis, with colleagues.
- Provide additional support for SafeChoice services as needed.
Related Education:
- Knowledge of trauma and best practices for creating a trauma-informed work environment for survivors receiving services.
- Has a strong working knowledge of racial equity and commitment to advance anti-racism and inclusion framework in programming, policies and practices.
Related Experience:
- Two years of experience providing advocacy to victims within a domestic violence program.
- A minimum of fifty hours of training on domestic violence issues and advocacy within the past three years.
- Six months experience providing effective coaching, guidance, and supervision to staff and/or volunteers is preferred.
General Requirements:
- Complete and pass a background check;
- Complete the training requirements, pursuant to WAC 388-61A-1085;

Strong technological skills: effectively use common software programs (like MS Office, Excel, and PowerPoint) to fulfill position related expectations.
Strong soft-skills: adapt work and communication style to mitigate unnecessary tension, improve efficiency, increase morale, and make programmatic improvements with little or no prompting.
